Not good: USF’s leading receiver out 6-8 weeks

South Florida can officially extend wide receiver Sterling Griffin’s prognosis from “a couple of weeks” to at least six weeks.

The team’s leading receiver hurt his ankle during Saturday’s loss to Cincinnati, and the original diagnosis was a sprained ankle. However, x-rays on Griffin’s injured right ankle revealed a fracture, and the sophomore is now expected to miss anywhere from six to eight weeks. That means Griffin might not be back this season unless the Bulls make a bowl game. At 4-3 overall and winless in the Big East, USF has some work to do on that front.

Additional injuries are mounting up for USF, as cornerback Ricardo Dixon has torn the ACL and will miss the remainder of the season.
