Oklahoma State, Mississippi State to meet in Houston?

The hosting site for the upcoming Champions Bowl is still to be determined, but Dallas, New Orleans and Houston are among the cities that have formally submitted a bid. While H-Town may not land the bowl game -- Dallas and New Orleans are considered the frontrunners -- it may host a season-opening game between members of the Big 12 and SEC.

The Oklahoman reports that Oklahoma State and Mississippi State could play a season opener in Reliant Stadium next year. It would be a one-time game rather than a series, and while it would promise a big payout and lots of exposure, the Cowboys already have one nonconference game (UT-San Antonio) on the road in 2013.

Both OSU and MSU have soft nonconference slates next year and scheduling the game would complete the season. The Cowboys also Lamar while the Bulldogs have UAB, Troy and Bowling Green.
