Poll: the No. 1 team in the country is...

Entering Week 7 of the 2011 season, there were a baker’s dozen of unbeaten teams at the Div. 1-A (FBS) level. Exiting the weekend, that number has been sliced by almost a quarter.

While the top eight teams in last weekend’s Associated Press rankings came out unscathed, No. 11 Michigan, No. 12 Georgia Tech and No. 16 Illinois cannot say the same as each fell from the ranks of the undefeated.

Even as Nos. 1-8 held serve, however, there were a couple of scares. Inexplicably, No. 3 Oklahoma was tested on the road against 2-4 Kansas; No. 6 Oklahoma State took down No. 22 Texas by just two touchdowns; and No. 8 Clemson had to climb out of an 18-point third-quarter hole to drop Maryland.

So, with the Unblemished Ones now down to an even 10, who ya got? Who should sit atop the rankings when they are released Sunday afternoon?
