Just as quickly as the holes developed on his Boston College coaching staff, Frank Spaziani has filled them.
The school announced Monday that Spaziani has hired three assistants: Sean Desai as running backs coach and special teams coordinator; Aaron Smith as wide receivers coach; and Al Washington as assistant special teams coach and assistant defensive line coach.
Desai was Miami’s assistant director of football operations in 2011, but spent the previous five seasons at Temple.
Smith was Columbia’s receivers coach from 2007-2011, while Washington, a former BC defensive lineman, spent last season as linebackers coach at Elon University and served as defensive line coach at Slippery Rock University from 2009-11.
The three replace Dave Brock (new offensive coordinator at Rutgers), Ben Sirmans (new RBs coach at Rutgers) and Ryan Day (new offensive coordinator at Temple), who resigned to accept positions at other institutions.
