While the passion of college football fans is admirable and one of the reasons why the sport is as great as it is, sometimes those very fans go a little too far in showing their school spirit.Or, in the case of the treatment of Jonathan Crompton, way, way, way too far.According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, Crompton was the subject of several death threats during the course of Tennessee’s miserable 5-7 season last year. The threats came via e-mail.Crompton did not discuss the threats with anyone in the athletic department, apparently figuring it was just part of the job being a quarterback at Tennessee."I really didn’t talk about it that much,” Crompton told The News Sentinel. “You don’t say ‘Poor me.’”
