The New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) hosted two NASCAR premier series this past weekend. The XFINITY Series Overton’s 200 was featured on Saturday afternoon at the 1.058-mile oval in Loudon, NH. The Monster Energy Cup drivers took their turn with the Overton’s 301 on Sunday. The Camping World Truck Series, off this past weekend, will go dirt racing on Wednesday, July 19, with the Aspen Dental 150 at Eldora Speedway. Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS)
Time Trials: Martin Truex Jr. (No. 78 WIX Filters Toyota Camry) won the Coors Light Pole Award for the Overton’s 301 with a lap of 133.077 mph. This is his 13th pole in 424 MENCS races. It is his first pole and 15th top-10 start in 2017 and his first pole in 23 races at NHMS. Jimmie Johnson (second) posted his second top-10 start of 2017 and his 21st in 31 races at NHMS. Matt Kenseth (third) posted his 10th top-10 start at NHMS and his 12th in 19 races this season. Erik Jones (sixth) was the fastest qualifying Rookie of the Year contender.
Did not qualify: No one. Only 39 cars entered for 40 spots in the lineup.
Results: Denny Hamlin (No. 11 FedEx Office Toyota Camry) won the Overton’s 301, his 30th victory in 417 MENCS races. This is his first victory and 10th top-10 finish in 2017. It is his third victory and 14th top-10 finish in 23 races at NHMS. Kyle Larson (second) posted his fourth top-10 finish in seven races at NHMS and his 12th top-10 finish in 2017. Martin Truex Jr. (third) posted his ninth top-10 finish in 23 races at NHMS. Daniel Suarez (sixth) was the highest finishing Rookie of the Year contender. Pole-sitter Kyle Busch led 95 laps and finished the 301-lap event in 12th place.

Time Trials: MENCS regular Kyle Busch, driving the No. 18 NOS Energy Drink Toyota, won the Coors Light Pole Award for the Overton’s 200 with a lap of 129.353 mph. This is his 62nd pole in 334 NXS races. It is his fifth pole and fifth top-10 NXS start in 2017 and his fourth pole in 12 NXS races at NHMS. Cup driver Brad Keselowski (second) posted his sixth top-10 NXS start of 2017 and his ninth in nine NXS races at NHMS. Another Cup driver, Kyle Larson (third), posted his second top-10 NXS start at NHMS. It is his eighth in eight NXS races this season. Matt Tifft (fourth) was the fastest qualifying Rookie of the Year contender.

William Byron (third), who was making his first series start at the Loudon, NH track, was the highest finishing Rookie of the Year contender.
