DRAFT is back for another season of quick and exciting daily fantasy action. Their DFS platform offers poolies with a chance to participate in a format that most of us have grown very accustomed to over the years. You can compete in a live snake draft in which the participants take a player with each pick. Unlike other DFS games, this gives you the opportunity to use your knowledge to craft a team that no one else will have because the players you select cannot be chosen by your competition.

The draft is quick as you are allotted just 30 seconds per pick and you take five players. Your team is comprised of three forwards, a defenseman and a goalie.

Your strategy can be dictated by the positions being selected ahead of you. For instance, if you are going last and everyone else has a goaltender then you can wait until your last pick to make that selection. Of course, selecting players going up against weaker competition or players who are riding hot streaks are always popular strategies as well.

Remember, there are new pools available to play in but the players in my rankings will fall off the table as soon as the puck drops in their respective game.

Familiarize yourself with the rues and enjoy! It’s a great game! Tuesday’s three-game slate, which can include the Winter Classic in the afternoon, features three-person drafts and plenty of head-to-heads to participate in.

Forward Rankings:

Nikita Kucherov

Connor McDavid

Johnny Gaudreau

David Pastrnak

Leon Draisaitl

Patrice Bergeron

Mitchell Marner

Aleksander Barkov

Jonathan Huberdeau

Brad Marchand

Evander Kane

John Tavares

Sean Monahan

Auston Matthews

Mark Stone

There’s a few players that have just been amazing lately and are options today. Dating back to Dec. 22, McDavid has 12 points in five games, Gaudreau has 14 points in six games, and Kucherov has an unreal 17 points in five contests, so those are unsurprisingly my top-three choices here. Pastrnak has five points in his last three contests, so he’s been great lately too.

Defenseman Rankings:

Brent Burns

Erik Karlsson

Shea Weber

Drew Doughty

Torey Krug

Jeff Petry

Rasmus Ristolainen

Mark Giordano

Alexander Edler

Seth Jones

When the Sharks acquired Karlsson, it looked like they had the top two offensive defensemen in the league. It didn’t exactly play out that way initially, but we’re trending in that direction. Burns has eight points in his last three games, giving him 44 points in 42 games this season. Karlsson shook off his slow start and is on an 11-game point streak, bringing him up to 33 points in 40 games.

Goalie Rankings:

Andrei Vasilevskiy

Tuukka Rask

Jake Allen

Mikko Koskinen

Carter Hutton

There is no safe bet when it comes to picking a goaltender, but Vasilevskiy is about as close as you get this season. He has a 16-3-2 record, 2.55 GAA, and .924 save percentage in 21 contests.

Now, let’s also look at some players to consider for FanDuel and DraftKings.

Keep in mind that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 4W, 2D, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL).

Anze Kopitar (LAK) – C - $6,300 FanDuel, $4,900 DraftKings

Brock Nelson (NYI) – C - $5,300 FanDuel, $5,200 DraftKings

Tomas Hertl (SJS) – W/C - $5,400 FanDuel, $5,600 DraftKings

Jake DeBrusk (BOS) – W - $5,300 FanDuel, $4,600 DraftKings

Craig Smith (NAS) – W - $5,300 FanDuel, $5,000 DraftKings

William Nylander (TOR) – W - $4,800 FanDuel, $4,300 DraftKings

Ryan Ellis (NAS) – D - $4,900 FanDuel, $4,900 DraftKings

Ryan Pulock (NYI) – D - $4,400 FanDuel, $4,800 DraftKings

Andrei Vasilevskiy (TBL) – G - $9,300 FanDuel, $8,200 DraftKings

I’m taking a bit of a chance by highlighting Nylander here. He finally scored his first goal of the season on Thursday and that could signal the start of him breaking out. If he does, then this would be an opportune time to take him given how cheap he currently is, but of course he’s also still a substantial risk.
