Co-leader Lovemark shoots 66 on ‘tough day’ at Zurich

AVONDALE, La. – Jamie Lovemark is a physical specimen, but even he was whipped after a 27-hole Friday at the Zurich Classic.

“Just happy to be alive,” he said after a second-round 66 put him in a share of the lead at 11-under 133. “It was hot, humid. It was a tough walk.”

All of the late-early starters here had a long Friday after heavy rain suspended play in the opening round at TPC Louisiana. With the soft conditions, Lovemark’s length was even more of an advantage with all of the mud balls in the fairway. He feasted on the par 5s and shot the low round of the day.

Afterward, he was just happy to be done.

“I don’t feel super chill,” he said. “It was a long day.”
