PALM HARBOR, Fla. – For the first time since 2007, Jim Furyk won’t be teeing it up at Bay Hill next week.

Furyk, who finished T-65 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last year, cited his own charity event on Monday as his reason for skipping the tournament.

“I’m going to entertain a little bit after that event,” he said Wednesday. “It makes that week very difficult for me. So I’m going to take Bay Hill off this year, first time in a lot of years.”

Following this week’s Valspar Championship, Furyk’s schedule will include only the Valero Texas Open prior to the Masters.

Oh, and a member-guest.

“I’m playing in my member-guest the week before I go to Augusta. I’m not sure how good a preparation that is, but I’m bringing a friend from New York down and I think we have matches on Thursday, Friday and Saturday before I leave for Augusta.”
