The prize fund was announced on Tuesday, with a total purse of 6.5 million pounds. That’s 200,000 pounds more than last year.
The runner-up at Royal Troon will earn 675,000 pounds.
The first-place prize translates to roughly $1.47 million, with one British pound currently equaling $1.31.
Danny Willett earned $1.8 million for winning the Masters. Dustin Johnson earned the same amount for his U.S. Open victory.
