SAN DIEGO – Butch Harmon made a much-anticipated, early-morning house call Sunday, meeting Phil Mickelson on Torrey Pines’ practice field at around 7:20 a.m. (PST) and plowing his way through three, 80-ball buckets of range pellets.
The duo searched the SoCal dirt for answers until about 9:05 a.m. and were still grinding on the putting green just moments before his 10 a.m. tee time.
Lefty may not be able to close the four-stroke gap between himself and Ryuji Imada on Sunday, but it won’t be because he wasn’t trying.
