PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Bo Van Pelt withdrew after the first round of the 95th PGA Championship, citing a hip injury.

Van Pelt made only one birdie in a 10-over 80 Thursday at Oak Hill, which put him last in the 156-player field.

It’s been a disappointing 2013 campaign for Van Pelt, who tied for 21st last week at Firestone and has only one top 10 in 20 starts this season. He is 82nd in FedEx Cup points with only two regular-season starts remaining, but it is unclear how much time he will miss, if any, because of injury.
