Golf Guy Grill Room Humana 2012

Welcome back to the Grill Room, where we have a barroom filled with plenty of regulars and a few not-so-regulars - like Rob Lowe,

Fresh off her one-on-one sit down with former President Clinton at the Humana Challenge, I am delighted to turn the tables on Annika Sorenstam. She will be answering the questions.

Some say ‘records are meant to be broken.’ And then there are some that like to say ‘that record may never be broken.’ Well, I got one for you – Joe Durant’s record for lowest strokes under par (-36) in a PGA Tour event ‘actually will never be broken.’ See, Durant’s record setting scores came during the 2001 Bob Hope – when it was still a 90-hole event. This year marks the first time the event has been changed back to a 72-hole event – like every other event on Tour (not including the WGC-Match Play). And I’m here to state that gone forever are any 90-hole events on Tour.

But hold on a second you say, isn’t it possible for somebody to get to 37 under in a regular 72-hole event? OK, you got me - it could happen. But not very likely. Ernie Els currently holds the 72-hole record at 31 under – a full six shots from breaking Durant’s lofty mark.
