PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Keegan Bradley is doing some serious homework to get ready for his first Masters.
Bradley plans to pick the brain of six-time Masters’ winner Jack Nicklaus over dinner in the next week as preparation for playing Augusta National April 5-8. Bradley, playing the Honda Classic this week, plays a lot at the Bear’s Club; Nicklaus’ club in nearby Jupiter.
Bradley also said he is arranging more than one practice round with three-time Masters’ winner Phil Mickelson over the next five weeks.
Bradley said Mickelson’s caddie, Jim “Bones” Mackay, gave him one of Mickelson’s old yardage books from Augusta National.
No first-time Masters’ competitor has won the year’s first major since Fuzzy Zoeller in 1979. Apart from Horton Smith and Gene Sarazen in the first twol Masters, nobody else has won in their first Masters’ appearance.
