LYTHAM ST. ANNES, England – A week after Zach Johnson won the John Deere Classic to collect his second PGA Tour victory of the year he’s put himself in position for victory No. 3 and major championship No. 2.

Johnson, who teed off more than two hours before the leaders, shot a third-round 66 at the Open Championship to vault up the leaderboard Saturday at Royal Lytham & St. Annes.

After six holes Johnson was even par for the day but he played the remaining 12 in 4 under par with five birdies and a bogey, including a birdie on 18.

“Today I felt much more relaxed, much more patient and never got too ahead of myself,” Johnson said. “Had a great time with Thomas Björn, who I’ve really always enjoyed playing with. And I just felt comfortable out there.”
