Marlins signed first-round pick SS Aiva Arquette.
MLB Pipeline’s Jim Callis reports it’s a full-slot deal for Arquette, who will receive a $7.14 million signing bonus as the seventh-overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft. The 21-year-old shortstop heads to Miami after a promising collegiate career between Washington and Oregon State. He’s a proven power bat with a still-developing offensive approach, but still figures to move pretty quickly, which makes him one of the more promising fantasy prospects from his draft class.

Marlins selected Oregon State SS Aiva Arquette with the No. 7 selection of the 2025 MLB Draft.
Arquette transferred from Washington to Oregon State, and he helped the Beavers reach another College World Series while hitting 19 homers with a 1.115 OPS over 65 games in Corvallis. The 21-year-old has considerable power potential in his right-handed bat, and he’s a hitter who has shown improved patience at the plate; albeit with some swing-and-miss as well. Because of his size it seems likely he’ll make the switch to third base, and he’s not a threat to steal many bags. Still, the potential to get on base at a solid clip while hitting 30 or more homers in his best seasons makes Arquette a must-roster in keeper formats.
