Matt Adams is off the disabled list after missing the past two weeks with a strained oblique muscle, which is a pretty rapid recovery from an injury that often lingers much longer.
It’ll be interesting to see how much playing time the Cardinals give Adams, because he was off to an amazing start as a part-timer before the injury, hitting .542 with a 1.634 OPS in 27 plate appearances. However, with Matt Holliday, Allen Craig, and Carlos Beltran around as starters in the outfield corners and first base there just isn’t much room for Adams in the lineup unless manager Mike Matheny wants to really sacrifice defense.
