Braves veteran Chipper Jones tore the ACL in his left knee in early August and was ruled out for the rest of the season. But that doesn’t mean he’s taking a back seat as the Braves march toward their first playoff berth since 2005.
According to David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Chipper was ejected from Saturday’s game against the Marlins for yelling at home plate umpire Doug Eddings from the dugout. The veteran third baseman was upset about a few early calls and didn’t make it past the first inning.
O’Brien notes that Eddings ejected pitcher Mike Hampton in a similar situation back in 2005, when the Braves were playing in Florida. Hampton, at the time, was on the disabled list as well so it’s not without precedent. Hampton is now pitching for the Diamondbacks.
