Rockies manager Bud Black said this morning that Daniel Murphy will miss at least one month due to the avulsion fracture of his left index finger.

Murphy sustained the injury while fielding a ground ball in the fourth inning of Friday’s game against the Marlins. Murphy somehow remained in the game and went 1-for-5 with a ninth-inning single, but soon got x-rays and saw a hand specialist who determined that, no, he really shouldn’t be playing for a while.

Until he’s back some combination of Mark Reynolds, Ryan McMahon, and Garrett Hampson will cover first and/or second base for Colorado.
