Jimmy Rollins hoping to return from hamstring injury Monday

Jimmy Rollins hasn’t played since September 8 because of a hamstring injury and the Phillies are obviously doing just fine without him, going 11-1 during that time. There’s no official timetable for his return yet, but Rollins said yesterday that he’s hoping to play at least six games before the postseason begins and manager Charlie Manuel also expressed confidence that the shortstop will definitely be in the lineup at some point before the playoffs. Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports that Rollins will participate in a simulated game today, but the real test will come when he tries to run full speed on the strained hamstring. He hasn’t done that yet and until he does it’s tough to predict a return date. In order to play in the Phillies’ final six games, he’d have to rejoin the lineup by Monday.
