Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton has played just once in the last two weeks and remains out of Saturday’s lineup with continued inflammation in his rib cage. He has also battled a shoulder injury. How much pain has Hamilton been in? As Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports, the 33-year-old has received seven cortisone injections in his chest and back. Overall, he’s had 12 injections for pain in the past two weeks.
The Angels hope Hamilton will be able to return for Wednesday’s series finale in Oakland. The club has an off-day on Thursday before beginning the final series of the regular season in Seattle. If Hamilton can’t return Wednesday, they certainly hope he can Friday.
When in the lineup, Hamilton has hit .263/.331/.414 with 10 home runs and 44 RBI in 381 plate appearances. He’ll enter the third year of his five-year, $125 million contract in 2015.
