Athletics outfielder Khris Davis hit three home runs on Tuesday night, then added another in Wednesday afternoon’s 8-1 victory over the Rangers to complete a series sweep. Davis is now hitting a slugging-heavy .238/.276/.517 with 12 home runs and 29 RBI on the year.
Davis has created some interesting trivia with his recent success. Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle points out that no one has homered more than Davis (32) since last August 6. The next closest is Nolan Arenado (29). Even more interestingly, the Sportsnet Stats and Information Department notes that since the beginning of August last year and prior to Wednesday afternoon, both Davis and his pseudo-namesake Chris Davis of the Orioles both have the same amount of home runs and RBI (31, 72).
The A’s acquired Davis from the Brewers in February, trading minor leaguers Jacob Nottingham and Bowdien Derby to Milwaukee.
