For the second year in a row Bo Porter will try to convince the Marlins to hire him as manager.
Last year Florida chose Edwin Rodriguez over Porter, who then took a job as Washington’s third base coach, but Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post reports that the Marlins have received permission from the Nationals to interview him again next week.
Porter also interviewed for the Nationals’ job and the Pirates’ job last year, and there’s still an outside chance Washington general manager Mike Rizzo could decide to promote him rather than keep Davey Johnson as manager in 2012.
Or as Rizzo said last week: “I want what’s best for Bo. I certainly wouldn’t stand in the way of a managing job if he wasn’t the manager here.”
And of course Ozzie Guillen’s situation may ultimately determine how the Marlins replace Jack McKeon.
