The Orioles and starter Kevin Gausman avoided arbitration on Tuesday, agreeing on a $5.6 million salary for the 2018 season, Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports. Gausman had filed for $6.225 million and the Orioles countered at $5.3 million. The agreed-upon salary comes in a bit under the midpoint between the two figures.
Gausman, 27, was in his second of four years of arbitration eligibility. Last season, the right-hander finished with a 4.68 ERA and a 179/71 K/BB ratio across 186 2/3 innings.
Gausman got the ball on Opening Day last year for the O’s. It’ll likely be him again or Dylan Bundy this year.
