Per Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe, the Red Sox are unsure starter Clay Buchholz will return before the end of the 2015 regular season. The right-hander has been on the shelf since July 11 with a right flexor strain. He was supposed to resume throwing two weeks ago, but has yet to pick up a baseball.
Buchholz hit the disabled list with a 3.26 ERA and a 107/23 K/BB ratio in 113 1/3 innings. He may have some incentive to try and come back before the end of the season, as he can potentially become a free agent if the Red Sox opt against picking up his $13 million option for 2016.
