Per MASN’s Dan Kolko, Nationals manager Matt Williams said on Sunday that he is considering inserting Ryan Zimmerman into Monday’s lineup for NLDS Game 3 against the Giants. They’ll be facing lefty Madison Bumgarner, so the right-handed-hitting Zimmerman helps give the Nationals a platoon advantage.
Zimmerman is 1-for-2 with a single in the NLDS thus far. The 30-year-old returned from the disabled list on September 20 after missing most of the season with a fractured right thumb followed by a strained right hamstring. He played a few innings at first base while making four starts in left field.
