So much for that: Larry Bowa out of running for Astros job

larry bowa

Just hours after confirming that he interviewed for the Astros’ managerial opening Larry Bowa told Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com that he’s already out of the running for the job.

Bowa called it “a super interview” and came away “very impressed” with general manager Jeff Luhnow, but Rosenthal writes that both sides “agreed that the team needs to go with someone younger.”

Bowa is 66 years old and hasn’t managed since 2004, when the Phillies fired him late in the season.

In addition to Bowa the other known candidates to interview with the Astros are interim manager Tony DeFrancesco, Nationals third base coach Bo Porter, Red Sox bench coach Tim Bogar, and Rays bench coach Dave Martinez.
