Stephen Strasburg won’t be available if Nationals advance to NLCS

161013-strasburg

Starter Stephen Strasburg won’t be available for the NLCS should the Nationals defeat the Dodgers on Thursday night and move on in the playoffs, ESPN’s Britt McHenry reports. Strasburg hasn’t pitched since September 7 due to a flexor mass strain in his right elbow.

Thus far in the postseason, the Nationals have handed the ball to Max Scherzer, Tanner Roark, Gio Gonzalez, and Joe Ross. Scherzer will get the ball again in Game 5 against the Dodgers.

Strasburg, 28, finished the regular season with a 15-4 record, a 3.60 ERA, and a 183/44 K/BB ratio in 147 2/3 innings.
