Torey Lovullo shaves head in support of John Farrell

Boston Red Sox v Toronto Blue Jays

Red Sox manager John Farrell has been away from the team since mid-August while undergoing chemotherapy for Stage 1 lymphoma. Bench coach Torey Lovullo, who has been serving as manager in his absence, showed up to the ballpark Saturday with a shaved head. According to Christopher Smith of MLive.com, Lovullo said he did it to show support for his friend and what he’s going through right now.

“You’ll see him — he doesn’t have much hair right now,” Lovullo said. “It’s all an adjustment for us. But I made a commitment to him when he told me he was going to go through this process that I’d shave my head when he got to that point. And yesterday was that point. But he’s doing good.""

Pretty cool stuff. Farrell and Lovullo have a long history together going back to when they were teammates with the Angels in 1993.
