Yasmany Tomas worked out at the Red Sox academy. Balls were punished over trees to all fields! #smellbaseball #Power pic.twitter.com/1CJCmBoI6U

Granted, that’s Tomas’ agent tweeting about balls being punished. He may be a bit biased on the matter.
The Sox have a lot of decisions to make regarding their outfield at the moment and it doesn’t seem like Tomas would fit there. They have Yoenis Cespedes, Rusney Castillo and Jackie Bradley, Jr. Mookie Betts is an infielder but played mostly in the outfield after being called up. Shane Victorino is under contract for another year. Allen Craig is hanging around for the next few years, most likely.
As Rob Bradford of WEEI tweets, this may have been more of a workout of convenience than anything else. Tomas as there, the Sox had a field open and the agent is trying to make it look like it’s a bigger deal than it is.
