Kyle Larson failed in his bid for a fourth straight win at Michigan International Speedway.
Larson lost control of his No. 42 Chevrolet with 35 laps left in Stage 2 of the Cup race at the 2-mile track.
Larson, who was running in eighth, spun exiting Turn 4 and slid through the infield grass.
The Chip Ganassi Racing driver started the race in 26th.
He was able to continue, but was a lap down. He was able to get back on the lead lap thanks to a caution and finished 28th.
Pissed away what I felt like was the fastest car today. Stupid mistake on my end. Bummer
