Report: Nets signing Greivis Vasquez to one-year contract

Brooklyn Nets v Toronto Raptors - Game Five

TORONTO, ON - APRIL 30: Marcus Thornton #10 of the Brooklyn Nets tries to hold up Greivis Vasquez #21 of the Toronto Raptors in Game Five of the NBA Eastern Conference Quarterfinals at the Air Canada Centre on April 30, 2014 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Raptors defeated the Nets 115-113 to take a 3-2 series lead. The Nets finally found a free agent who couldn’t get away.

After the Trail Blazers matched Allen Crabbe’s offer sheet and Heat matched Tyler Johnon’s offer sheet, Brooklyn turned to an unrestricted free agent: Greivis Vasquez.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

Vasquez is coming off a lost season. The Bucks traded a decent haul for him, but he missed most of the year after ankle surgery.

He’ll get a chance to bounce back as he backs up Jeremy Lin. Vasquez is a good outside shooter and passer, though he doesn’t use his 6-foot-6 height well to defend or score inside.

Vasquez’s salary is unreported, but it doesn’t matter much for the Nets. They have more cap room this summer than they can use, and they’re not tied to him beyond this season.
