After unexpectedly clearing waivers, point guard Nate Wolters, who was waived by the Bucks to make room for Kenyon Martin, is close to signing a 10-day contract with the Pelicans, according to ESPN.com’s Marc Stein:
Wolters is a good fit as a backup point guard, probably more dependable than the recently-traded Austin Rivers. He’ll be a good fit in New Orleans. Still, it’s a little unexpected that someone making just over $800,000, who has proven that he’s an NBA player, went unclaimed. A team like the Sixers or Celtics, who are just throwing prospects against the wall at this point, couldn’t have taken a flyer on him?
Pelicans, I’m told, are zeroing in on PG Nate Wolters for 10-day deal after Wolters cleared waivers earlier today following release by Bucks
