Thunder part-owner Aubrey McClendon dies in single-car crash

Thunder part-owner Aubrey McClendon, one day after being indicted on conspiracy charges, died today.

The Oklahoman:

Aubrey McClendon died after a vehicle crashed into a bridge on Midwest Boulevard between Memorial and NE 122 this morning, police announced at a news conference Wednesday afternoon.

The single-vehicle accident happened about 9 a.m., a fire department spokesman said

McClendon crashed into an embankment while traveling at a “high rate of speed” Wednesday morning, said Capt. Paco Balderrama of the Oklahoma City Police Department.

“He pretty much drove straight into the wall,” Balderrama said.
