Warriors name starting five. That didn’t take long.

Keith Smart knows what he wants from the Warriors. And he knows who he wants to do it.

Two days into training camp Smart named his starting five according to Matt Steinmetz of Comcast Bay Area: Stephen Curry, Monta Ellis, Dorell Wright, David Lee and Andris Biedrins.

No real surprises on that list. In fact the only question was the three, but Wright is a better defender than Reggie Williams and what’s left of Vladimir Radmanovic. Williams will get plenty of run, however.

The chemistry of that starting unit will be something to watch. Curry and Ellis are now BFF and are saying all the right things about being able to play well together now. Lee gets to play his natural four spot (he was a five in NYC) thanks to Biedrins giving the Warriors a pretty athletic front line.

Hiring Smart -- an assistant under Don Nelson -- gave the Warriors a guy that already knew the players and their strengths. No classic open training camp, Smart already had some preconceived notions. He didn’t stray far from the script, but if he can get some defense out of the unit the movie will look a lot different.
