Tomas Tatar paid tribute to his father on Saturday, scoring what ended up being the game-winning goal as the Detroit Red Wings beat the Los Angeles Kings 3-1. As you can see, it was a touching moment:
MLive.com’s Ansar Khan reports that his dad died on Friday and that Tatar will play for Detroit against the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday before flying to Slovakia for the funeral. Red Wings GM Ken Holland confirmed the reports that the 23-year-old’s father passed away, according to the Detroit Free Press’ Helene St. James.
Tatar has already generated a career year with 18 points in 37 games played, including a three-game goal-scoring streak. Obviously, he has bigger things on his mind than his offensive production, though.
