Former 100m world record holder Asafa Powell and 2008 Olympic 100m silver medalist Sherone Simpson are eligible to compete immediately after the Court of Arbitration for Sport cut their doping suspensions from 18 months to six months Monday.
Powell, 31 and a three-time Olympian, was banned 18 months in April for a positive drug test in June 2013. The suspension was backdated, and Powell and Simpson successfully appealed the length of their bans.
Powell was in Switzerland on Monday and is entered in a 100m race in Lucerne set for Tuesday.
Thank u to The Court of Arbitration for Sport. Finally this weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Justice has been served. Now let's run!
