ACL tear ends season for FAU’s top corner

The bright spots in FAU’s 2-4 start to the season have been few and far between. One of those few has been the play of cornerback Keith Reaser, considered by some to be the top corner in the Sun Belt Conference and now Conference USA.

Unfortunately, that bright spot has been taken away.

Reaser, head coach Carl Pelini said Tuesday, has a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the 2013 season. Reaser suffered the injury early in the fourth quarter of the Owls’ win over UAB Saturday. Arguably the worst news is that Reaser is a senior and is not eligible for a medical redshirt, meaning his collegiate career is over as well.

Pelini was full of praise for a player who represents a significant loss to the team.

“I think Keith is one of the better defensive backs not only in his conference, but in this country. Keith is a leader on this team, people respect him,” the coach said.

Reaser has started the last 30 games for the Owls, including all six this season.
