ANOTHER IRISH DB MAKES WAVES IN TESTING

After Notre Dame’s mediocre season, people were hard pressed to find any NFL prospects on the Fighting Irish roster. While Charlie Weis supporters can point the finger at the final roster spots from the Ty Willingham regime, it certainly seems like a few members of the secondary have the physical tools to be highly toutedplayersDavid Bruton, Notre Dame’s only player invited to the combine, dazzled in Indianapolis, putting up near bests for defensive backs across the board in testing.Today, little known cornerback Terrail Lambert set the stopwatch on fire, clocking two consecutive 4.3 times in the 40-yard dash. He thinks those times might have even put him on some NFL team’s radar. “I think I improved it [his draft status] a considerable amount. Pretty much everyone I talked to said good job. They liked what they had seen."And according to Lambert, he could’ve run even faster, telling the pool reporter at the Pro Day that he would’ve done better but he slipped at the start. While no one else that worked out distinguished themselves, and the Notre Dame secondary was a strength for the Irish, it’s just another head scratcher from the 2008 season, after watching the Irish play mediocre football and lose to teams like Syracuse and squeak out wins against teams like Navy and San Diego State.
