Buckeyes lose kicker to torn MCL

Ohio State faces a pair of games the next two weekends that are critical to their Big Ten title hopes.

And, when they face Penn St. and Iowa, they’ll do so without their regular kicker, Aaron Pettrey.

According to the kicker’s mother Lillian, her son suffered a torn MCL in the blowout win over New Mexico State and will undergo surgery on Tuesday. As the prognosis for a full recovery is four to six weeks, the fifth-year season will miss the remainder of the regular season.

Walk-on junior Devin Barclay will replace Pettrey. Barclay attempted three field goals after Pettrey was injured, and missed two, one from 36 yards and the other from 47.
