Favre takes in S. Miss practice

We may not know for a couple of months whether Brett Favre will return for another NFL season, but we do know where the future Pro Football Hall of Famer was for a portion of the day Monday.

According to a release issued by Southern Miss, the former Golden Eagle quarterback took in a practice on his old stomping grounds and spoke to the team for approximately ten minutes. Needless to say, the surprise visit went over very well with the players and coaching staff.

“It was just a great day (that brought him out),” Southern Miss coach Larry Fedora said. “He watched a little practice and we were very lucky to have him out. He visited with the team after practice and it was pretty special.

“He was just talking about what it was like to play here and what it meant to play here, on that practice field and in that stadium. You could’ve heard a pin drop out there. Everyone was glued in and listening to what he had to say. You don’t get many opportunities like that to get to listen to the greatest quarterback that ever played the game. He said a lot of things that were on his heart. It was good.”
