Miami offensive lineman released from hospital

Miami offensive lineman Hunter Knighton has been released from a hospital after being rushed for treatment following a scare last month. The cause for the medical scare is unknown at this time, because his family has requested privacy.

Knighton was taken to the hospital after collapsing following a workout with teammates in late February. Miami coaches and representatives were encouraged by the prognosis soon after Knighton received medical treatment, but he remained for further observations.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Hunter Knighton and his family at this time, though we are encouraged by the prognosis,” the UM athletic department said in a statement at the time. “We look forward to his return to normal activities as soon as his health permits.”

Knighton is a redshirt freshman heading in to the 2014 season. There is no word on just when he may return to Miami’s practices, but the Hurricanes are currently on spring break. This should give Knighton a little extra time before having to worry about that.
