Michigan, Notre Dame unveil uni’s for rare night game at Big House

Michigan and Notre Dame are about as traditional as it comes in college football, but yesterday, the two teams unveiled new, retro uniforms for a rare night game at Michigan’s Big House. The game will be played September 10th.

You can see the designs for the Michigan uni HERE and the Notre Dame uni HERE.

Or, because I appear to not know what I’m doing, I could just post them below:

Both uniforms were designed by Adidas.

“We are excited about playing in this intense rivalry, and this historic night game provides an opportunity to wear a retro-looking uniform that pays homage to our rich history,” said Michigan head football coach Brady Hoke. “Our players like the throwback uniforms and it will be something that is exciting for the fans.”

“We are happy to partner with adidas to help commemorate the first night game at Michigan Stadium with new uniforms,” said Notre Dame head football coach Brian Kelly. “It seems fitting that the two schools with the two best winning percentages in college football play in this historic game. I know our players are looking forward to the contest and both teams’ new uniforms will only add to the excitement in the Big House on September 10.”

Personally, I like them both, although the Notre Dame uniform doesn’t differ much from the normal “road” combination besides the shamrock on the side of the helmet and the green numerals. Pictures and renditions of Michigan’s retro uni’s began circulating the interwebs a while ago and the initial reaction actually appeared to be negative.

But, I think it’s fun for the players and the fans and it’s good for college football. What do you think? Let your voices be heard (or, read) below.
