Starting ‘Cocks corner hit with suspension

While he still refused to divulge the specific reasons behind the punishment, South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier said starting cornerback Akeem Auguste‘s suspension will last two games.

Auguste sat out this past Saturday’s game with South Carolina State, and will do the same this weekend against Kentucky. He will be replaced by C.C. Whitlock, who himself was suspended earlier this year for an off-field incident this offseason.

“From what I understand, he’s missing the next two games,” Spurrier said. “If he does what he’s supposed to, he’ll be reinstated.”

According to the Charleston Post & Courier, Spurrier said it’s punishment meted out by the university, and that a repeat of a similar infraction would result in a dismissal from the team.
