Wisconsin looks for $76.8 million in facility renovations

Compared to “mini-me conference re-alignment”, Wisconsin’s request for $76.8 million dollars to renovate facilities might seem like small potatoes.

But at CFT we like to be equal-opportunity bloggers.

Wisconsin athletic officials are proposing to build a new multi-story athletic facility that would house locker rooms and weight training facilities for all student-athletes.

The plan would also include upgrades to the McClain Center (a university practice facility), as well as a new scoreboard, sound system and FieldTurf to Camp Randall Stadium.

“A whole new facility would really bring this program to a top-notch level where you could say it’s second to none,” said Badger quarterback Scott Tolzien.

According to the Associated Press, the proposal would gather the necessary funds through different avenues. “The athletics department would borrow $50 million against its program’s revenue and expects $26.8 million in gifts and grants to pay for it. According to a fundraising document, officials are asking for $7 million for naming rights to the building.”

Wisconsin’s Board of Regents will review the request Thursday.
