Arizona was hit with a crippling blow to their offense yesterday when it was learned that tight end Rob Gronkowski will be forced to undergo season-ending back surgery.
The All-Pac-10 TE will undergo the procedure later this week.
“We just could not get his back to where he felt it would productive and safe for him to play,” head coach Mike Stoops said. “It’s been a blow. We’ve had to work hard offensively. We have to find other guys to step up offensively.”
Gronkowski has missed the first three games of the 2009 season, including the Wildcats’ 27-17 loss to Iowa yesterday.
