Boston College’s Brian Butler made the second hole-in-one of his golf career on Monday, and then he made a decision.
Playing a qualifier for the Benrus Open, a par-3 tournament in Rhode Island, Butler won $10,000 for making an ace on the 18th hole. Of course, accepting the money would have meant a violation of the NCAA’s amateurism rules and the end of Butler’s college career.
Instead, the rising senior opted not to take the money and to continue playing golf for the Eagles.
Butler joined College Central on Friday to detail the hole-in-one, walk us through his decision, and tell us what he might do if he makes another ace in the Benrus finals - worth $1 million.
