Angel Cabrera is a two-time major champion, but one thing was missing from his résumé – a regular PGA Tour win. He changed that on Sunday, taking The Greenbrier Classic by two shots. Here’s the lowdown on the final round:

What it means: Coming into this week, Cabrera had more missed cuts (seven) than top 10s (one) worldwide this season. But he was coming off consecutive top-25 finishes at the Travelers and Quicken Loans, and carried the momentum into The Greenbrier. Now, Cabrera will be a name to watch at the upcoming Open Championship.
Round of the day: McNeill nearly pulled off a great comeback with a final-round 61. His round was highlighted by a birdie-birdie-birdie-birdie-ace stretch from Nos. 4-8 that put the two-time winner on 59 watch. But McNeill managed only three birdies on the back nine to post 14 under. It was nearly enough in the end, but Cabrera held on for the win.
Best of the rest: Simpson needed a good week to get back in the mix for a spot on the Ryder Cup team. He currently sits 17th in the standings, but after a final-round 63 and a third-place finish, Simpson will certainly be moving up the rankings this week.
Biggest disappointment: Hurley had the lead for most of the weekend, but he closed with a 73 Sunday to finish T-4. He opened strong with a birdie on No. 1, but he bogeyed four of his next five holes and never saw the lead again. The good news for Hurley is he should have enough world ranking points to get into the Open Championship.
Shot of the day: After birdies at Nos. 11 and 12, Cabrera holed out from 176 yards for eagle at the par-4 13th to build a three-shot lead.
