UNLV rising senior Ryan Moore has earned the Southern Golf Association’s National Amateur of the Month Award for July.
Moore, from Puyallup, Wash., pulled off an impressive hat trick during the month, repeating as U.S. :Publinx champ and adding victories in the Sahalee Players Championship and Western Amateur.
Moore, 22, became the first unanimous selection by the award’s selection panel since the monthly award was launched in March, 2003.
After winning the individual NCAA title earlier this summer, Moore launched his July siege by winning the Sahalee tournament. He followed that by taking the U.S. Publinx title with dominating 7 and 6 and 6 and 5 triumphs in his semifinal and final matches.. Moore capped off the month with a dramatic victory in the Western Amateur, draining a 33-foot birdie putt to win on the first overtime hole.
