Champions Challenge cancelled

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – Building rain and strong winds have prompted officials to cancel the Champions Challenge at St. Andrews.

The event, which is held every five years when the championship is played on the Old Course, was scheduled to include seven teams of past Open champions over a four-hole stretch (Nos. 1, 2, 17 and 18), but inclement weather kept the likes of Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer and Roberto de Vicenzo off the drenched golf course.
